It's quite a feat to create such an energetic fast-paced rock song and still sound bland. This is what the young American punksters Yellowcard have achieved with their single Ocean Avenue, the title track of their new album.

The MTV2 award-winners' latest offering sounds like an early nineties Green Day who are still going through pimple-popping puberty. A distorted staccato punk riff forms the prominent underbelly of the song before it makes way for a passionate breezy chorus - pretty staple stuff.

Despite the energy and explosiveness of the song, it remains the outburst of a bunch of juveniles, especially with lyrics like: "We were sixteen and it felt so right, sleeping all day staying up all night". You might like this track if you're 14 and wear Bowling For Soup sweatshirts, otherwise only buy the CD if you're short of a drinks coaster.
