Florida's Yellowcard write the kind of power-popped rock that makes Jimmy Eat World fans weak at the knees. Furiously energetic, catchy as hell and easily rousing enough to fill stadiums the size of most English towns in their homeland, it's a tried and tested formula that's bringing huge amounts of attention to peers including Fall Out Boy and Alkaline Trio.
However, these guys are by no means young upstarts to the American angst rock parade. 2004's Ocean Avenue went double platinum in the US back when Green Day were still rubbish and they have more than enough fans to shift mass units. Lights And Sounds is laden with memorable hooks, quiet/loud dynamics and emotive lyrics which will no doubt cut through to many a disenchanted youth: "They gave you the end but not the where to start / not how to build, how to tear it apart."
They might not say very much, but then most Yellowcard fans won't care. Lights and Sounds is as lively and rousing as most of their best tracks.
