Yousef and Steve Mac present Drum Bums - Circus Parade (Carioca/Variation)
release date: 24 November 2003
It's been very quiet from Yousef lately - a bit too quiet - and it's about time things changed. Cue Circus Parade - not quite drum and bass, not quite dance - whatever it is, it's damn good.
The song essentially has one purpose and one purpose only - to be played excessively loud on a Friday night at about 1 am when the club's jumping. With its brass band undertones and upbeat overlays peaking and falling throughout the duration you can tell these guys know exactly how to put a track together.
At an ungodly ten minutes this is one epic that probably won't be coming to a radio near you. With the length of Circus Parade and the fact it's a pure instrumental you'd think it would be monotonous - somehow, that couldn't be further from the truth. The b-side Yousef's Mix isn't bad either. Circus Parade is possibly more suited to White Label than general release, but who cares? I've got my copy, now you need yours.
