Zoey van Goey are a new band from Glasgow, and although this debut single is produced by Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian they don't really sound much like any of the other stuff that's coming direct from the marvellous B&S/Camera Obscura lineage at the moment.
If anything Zoey van Goey, at least on leading track Foxtrot Vandals, lean more towards The Sundays' kind of relaxedly-blazing sound, which can be an equally good thing, Kim Moore's vocals floating mellifluous and pure over instrumentals that buzz in the back like a summery breeze.
B-side Song to the Embers is a slow-burning Miaoux Miaoux remix that blazes with darker inclinations, drifting like a fairy-tale through austere pastures, and this is a generally ace double intro to van Goey's sparkly world.
