Opening up with a characteristically heavy riff and a vitriolic onslaught of vocals, this new single from Billy Talent carries on in the same vein as previous offering The Ex. Lead singer Benjamin Kowalewicz's angst hasn't deserted him, as the song opens up with him shouting "Rejected from day one/My name is Bastard Son". Quite what he's getting at here will remain a mystery, but judging by its manic delivery, it's a subject matter not to be taken too lightly - easy listening this is not.

The release of this single is unlikely to have much of a swing factor for the band's popularity. Anyone who is interested in them will already own the album and probably a T-shirt informing us of their last appearance in an English town. Billy Talent have found their niche market in teenagers who are still disillusioned with life but have grown out of Good Charlotte and Sum 41. This is meant to be intelligent angst ridden punk rock, as opposed to dumb, two chord MTV filler as brought to us by Blink 182.

Having said this, the chorus is catchy enough not to turn the dial when we hear it on the radio. In three swift minutes, Billy Talent disappear, and the rest of the world are left reaching for a copy of REM's Shiny Happy People.
