I'm ashamed to say that whenever I hear Bob Dylan's classic Lay Lady Lay it makes me think of the Vic Reeves pub singer version. Thankfully the reworking presented here by Magnet and vocalist Gemma Hayes removes that apparition pretty sharpish, as it's a tasteful down tempo interpretation.
Theirs is a string laden song starting with a whoosh of harps but settling down into a subtly arranged, tender rendition. What works really well here is Hayes' vocal, changed to read "I'm the best thing that you've ever seen". She brings just the right amount of suggestiveness to complement Magnet's closer recorded, breathy vocal.
This is the sort of number you'd expect to climax a decent chillout session, and is an interesting take on the original.
