Ambulance LTD have achieved what few upcoming bands can only dream of: endorsement by a major TV series. In their case it's the highly popular teen drama, The OC, which has adopted the laidback Primitive (The Way I Treat You). While that may plummet the band into the great sea of 'selling out' for some fans, it's to the New York quintet's credit that they have maintained a level of intelligent integrity about the whole affair.
And is it any surprise - this third single is testament to the immense songwriting ability and musical aptitude of a band who have been lolling in the shadows for far too long. Primitive is a dusty, sassy gem with an air of devil-may-care about it. The guitar and bass lick has a comatose Iggy Pop swagger that exemplifies the line "walk in a comfortable slumber", and Marcus Congleton's attitude-laden speak singing is cooler than Jame Dean's leather jacket.
While it's not the best song on the album, it's a good introduction to a band who have the talent to become monumental - let's hope The OC will help them in this quest.
