There must be some kind of DJ breeding programme in Brighton, because that's exactly where this baby is from. Cagedbaby is the work of one Mr. Tom Gandey, which, given the scope of the influences on this single, is quite surprising.

16 Lovers steps back in time to the Eighties with a robotic pop synth backing track - the kind Gary Numan could spit out in his sleep. This is no throwaway attempt at trying to hook on to the current trend of reviving an Eighties sound however; Gandey has done his homework and has come up with a real floor filler of a track. There may well be a robotic coldness to 16 Lovers, but it is fused with the kind of pop sensibility Prince displayed on 1999 or U Got The Look.

With B-side Golden Triangle Cagedbaby cuts down INXS' Suicide Blonde and forces her to cut a rug with a beaming smile on her face. It's a lot better than it sounds. With any luck Fatboy Slim will put his decks in storage soon, and then we will see this baby start to grow and grow.
