Pedigree. Bark. Bite. None of these words will be used forthwith. It's lazy, obvious and not particularly funny. Just like the band. Arf! No, just kidding. Mostly. Speaking of things-that-are-predictable, it's time to do the ubiquitous 'Comparison To The Libertines'. Which that was.

So Dogs are more 'saaarfff Laaahndan' guttersnipes with a brand of shambolic punk-rock. Despicable, right? Well, no, not entirely. Importantly, it's better than the majority of the bands which have recently swarmed upon us, like cockroaches feasting on the entrails of The Libs' implosion, even if it's not crystal clear why.

Maybe it's the hint of authenticity in Johnny Cooke's gruff tones, the trace of innovation in the otherwise oh-so-familiar guitar or the fact that the lyrics may actually have an IQ somewhere above bathroom mould. Of course it could just be that there has been so much dreck produced from ploughing this particular furrow that our standards have been worn down to a point when anything not terrible becomes a blessed relief.
