So Feeder are still the most studenty band of them all. Poppy tunes and indie stylings, living off those 90s gold mines, Nirvana and Buckley.
Pushing the Senses is, in this way, very much like all their other singles: a few soft notes at the start, then distorted power chords all the way to the chorus. Indeed, the lyrics effectively rewrite their last hit, Just The Way I'm Feeling: "Feelings you never knew / Pulling you under now." The dull words are redeemed by Grant Nicholas's listenable voice, and a solidly obvious production from Gil Norton: handclaps and reverb are always fun, especially at the start of the summer.
But while this is by no means awful, you can't help thinking Feeder belong more with Travis than Coldplay. The times are more Hedi Slimane than bleached hair, and this song, at least, feels strangely irrelevant in our angular, art-rock world.
