Fans of the melodic power-ballad operation that is Idlewild these days will already have Warnings/Promises, the current album from which El Capitan is lifted. Roddy Woomble's American-a-like vocals are as strong here as anywhere on the album, and it's one of the tracks that creeps insidiously into unsuspecting brains after just a couple of listens.

All well and good - but album owners need a reason to buy a single this late in the mother record's campaign. Emphatically, for while the main track's production is decent enough, that reason is the acoustic mix that backs the single.

With violins, folky picked acoustic guitar and harmonising piano painting a settled picture around the previously edgy band's sumptuous vocal melody section, they sound unnervingly like Ben Folds Five. And they tell me they're Scottish? Who'd have thought.
