There is a point about a minute into 50 to a £ when the guitars are allowed to resonate and the drums come to the front of the mix. It's a hovering, expectant, pit of the stomach moment, and when the riff returns it's better than before: punchier, more insistent. A familiar trick, maybe, but it works - this is beautiful tension/release three minute punk, and familiar tricks are what it wants.

People complain that Oasis make the same album over and over again. Well, collectively the post-Libertines family of bands have been making the same album over and over again too. Fast drugged rock, smokers' voices, wild mercury guitars. It doesn’t stop it being fun.

So who cares if this is Razorlight's Vice in a different order: so is almost everything else. And who cares if it doesn't really go anywhere: it doesn't really have to.
