With their reputation for churning out smash hit pop singles such as Where Is The Love and Shut Up having taken a dive of Icarus sized proportions since the release of their Monkey Business LP, The Black Eyed Peas are in a precarious position two singles into their latest assault on our senses.

Sure, the slices of pants pop will still sell, and the airplay will probably remain relentless, but it seems inevitable that any popularity the quartet still possess will soon be swept down the cistern and into the ocean of readily forgettable pop sewage (Venga Boys, anyone?). What annoys me most is that it could all have been so different: Before the Peas exploded into the charts thanks to the implementation of Fergie's honey dripped tones, their lyrics were just a touch more thought provoking than: "I lied and I cheated and I lied a little more, and after I did it, I don't know what I did it for."

Alas, their quirky dress sense and multi cultural membership does little to disguise an equally poor chorus constructed of many a plagiarised melody and sample, relief from which is only offered by the fact that Don't Lie's existence is well under the four minute mark.
