You may have already heard a lot about Nine Black Alps. About how they sound like Nirvana, or Feeder, or any number of other bands from that era that some of us remember as Grunge.
It would be untrue to say that Nine Black Alps don't have anything in common with those bands - they do. They have a great dirty guitar sound, a knack of creating some cathartic musical explosions, and, most importantly, they don't sound like they're trying to emulate a period in recent rock history. Nine Black Alps are well on their way to creating a niche for themselves. It's rare to say that about a band these days, but with Unsatisfied they sound like a band who are just being themselves rather than trying to tick all the boxes on a genre specific list.
The song itself opens with a riff that sounds exactly like Fugazi's Arpeggiator, so already we're off to a good start. From there it builds into an entirely fulfilling chunk of indiefied rock, complete with anthemic chorus and charging drums. As a title Unsatsified couldn't be more misleading. Can I get odds on a Grunge revival please?
