Those crazy Norwegians with their whale steaks and their ability to speak broken English! And this one's put some kind of scary looking Fisher Price chef in a wintry Norwegian setting on the front of his first single! What kind of madness can we expect from the Radio 2 playlisted young buck?

Well, apart from the lyrics, which occasionally stretch beyond sixth-form poetry into proper gibberish, there's not much to upset or amaze anyone here. It's a well-produced slab of Badly Drawn Boy flecked acoustic pop, with strings that could have been lifted from Eleanor Rigby and a voice that makes me think of Ray Davies (or perhaps that's just the lazy, sunny writing style).

However, the only word to describe it is "inoffensive", and, let's face it, that's rarely a compliment in artistic circles. Sure, there's a cetacean-sized chorus (let down by its lyrical nonsensicality and incongruity with the verses) which suggests a healthy songwriting talent at work. But as an opener for forthcoming album Robert Post (he must have been up all night thinking of that title) it's all a little bland. And, anyway, I believe the correct syntax is not "got none" but "doesn't have any". As in: "Greatness? This song doesn't have any."
