The inventively titled A Day In The Life Of A Poolshark is the first single off Idiot Pilot's debut album, Strange We Should Meet Here. It starts life with a repeated synth motif that would sound more at home coming out of a Game Boy than anything else, but Idiot Pilot are hardly about following the rules.

Eventually, the Super Mario verse scarpers as something more sinister brews, then, fuck, in comes the chorus. A raging torrent of sound obliterates all that stands against it, as the light and gliding vocals of Michael Harris are desecrated by screams from Daniel Anderson that could wake the dead.

A Day In The Life Of A Poolshark is post-hardcore, electronic experimentation at its most prolific. Harris' vocal delivery is unique, and enchanting, and if anything is a cross between Richard Ashcroft and Paul Draper of Mansun. Idiot Pilot's frenetic take on music is bloody weird, but addictive.
