Why do all these new big indie stars insist on flogging their debut albums until they're limp and battered to death? If the re-release of I Predict A Riot wasn't enough, the Kaisers are putting out another track from Employment to try to keep album sales rolling in after Christmas. But if they wanted a worse advert for the album there are few better choices they could have made.
It's not that Modern Way is especially bad - it's just not especially good. It's no riot predictor or Every Day I Love You Less And Less or Oh My God. It's not even a Na Na Na Na Naa or a Saturday Night - two better choices. But really, two releases of OMG, two Riot and an Everyday later, it's time they just got down to business and made their second album.
Don't waste your money on this - not least because you probably already have the album anyway - and buy the Kaiser Chiefs' amazing cover version of Heard It Through The Grapevine from the Help! A Day In The Life album instead, because that's something really worth checking out, let alone the fact that the cash will go to a good cause.
