They seem to have come from nowhere this year, and yet the Magic Numbers feel like they've been with us all of our lives. That's the mark of a band who make magically timeless music, and Love's A Game is another example of the Stodart and Gannon siblings' way with a tune.
Like the best of their material, this manages to make you feel gloriously uplifted and impossibly melancholy at the same time. Romeo Stodart's vocals are endearingly fragile and sweet, and when Angela Gannon swoops in for the gorgeous chorus, it's enough to break a thousand hearts.
Neither uptempo nor a ballad, it's a record to fall in love to. All in all, another bittersweet treat from one of the best bands of the year.
