They were declared a promising band before this debut single was even commercially released. It's a short, fast slice of rock 'n' roll that shows why the hype is not banal, clichéd small talk but justified comments.

The Motorettes are a trio from an unfamiliar beach town in the north east of England called Tynemouth. As it rains all the time up there, playing rock 'n' roll in a mate's garage was probably preferable to playing football in a freezing cold park.

The lead guitar lick is dirty enough to pleasure a few groupies, and the strong rhythm scheme and booming chorus could spin heads. In fact, you can picture the rapport the band could build up with an audience with this mini opus. It's a diminutive pub where everybody is drenched in sweat and they're all singing along to an infectious number. The hype is accurate - The Motorettes have delivered a strong first single.
