Sol Seppy is better known as Sophie Michalitsianos, whose beautiful playing can be heard pulsing through the Sparklehorse albums Good Morning Spider and It's A Wonderful life. The two tracks here share a little of Sparklehorse's warped pop/country blueprint, but largely purport a sound all of their own.
Lead track Move blends some harsh electronic textures that summon the ghost of Curve with a wonderfully lilting vocal. The harder trip-hop styled opening is juxtaposed firstly against a gentle acoustic strum and then a lovely baroque string arrangement. It's a sun bleached Portishead, the melody dancing like headlights on the Hudson.
Bobbing Lie tumbles past like a mellow long lost Velvet Underground outtake. The song is wrapped up inside an opiate fog, the vocals and guitars combining with a streetwise grace. It sounds hopeful and weary at the same time. It's the sort of lo-fi gospel (well, there is no massed choir) that Spiritualized managed so successfully. On the strength of this the LP should be a treat.
