Ever wondered what The Darkness covering Sparks would sound like? Uh, no. Well we did, until British Whale washed up on our shores a couple of months ago and made us all long for a Norwegian harpoon to come hurtling out of the fog and put it out of our misery.
Ah. Bugger. Ok. Well, The Decision sounds like what you'd imagine The Darkness covering Sparks would have sounded like, if we hadn't already actually heard what it did sound like. Confused? You will be. It's a decidedly odd little song. Admittedly it does trek down the angular post-punk road recently well travelled, but it does so in jodhpurs and a funny three-corned hat, all the time hollering "I'm the Prince Of Wales!", like some kind of care in the community version of Bloc Party.
There's a good slice of inherited credibility too, with none other than Gang Of Four member Andy Gill on production duties. Eccentric, quirky and all kinds of likeable, these Young Knives may well turn out to be some of the sharpest tools in the box.
