Alan Ashton-Smith was born in Liverpool in 1984 and now lives in East London. Having made forays into academic, music-related and creative writing, he contrived to bring the three to a point of intersection with the completion of a PhD thesis on Gypsy Punk. He has written for PopMatters, Skiddle and Shout4Music. Alan tweets sporadically at @alanashtonsmith
