Alan is a regular gig-goer who loves the buzz he gets from live music, and makes an annual pilgrimage to Glyndebourne for a dash of opera. For a time he jointly ran a smashing club night called PiE&MASH. Outside of work, sleep is one of his favourite past times. He can also often be found shoehorning Simpsons quotes into conversations and listening to the dulcet tones of BBC Radio 4 (all hail the mighty Charlotte Green). A fondness for stationery, old maps and afternoon tea also features. He's in thrall to the cult of Mac, and is more often than not coveting the latest shiny, insanely great thing to have been launched in Cupertino, California. He tends to spend a lot of time thinking about time travel, due to Back To The Future having imprinted itself deeply on his psyche. Passionate about architecture - in particular art deco, and the creations of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. According to some, he has the aura of an Anglican vicar, and sports a chino-textured soul. Secretly, though, he wants to be John Steed: urbane, effortlessly well turned-out, and sporting a bowler hat at a jaunty angle whenever the opportunity presents itself.
