Gig Of The Week
Ralegh Long is set to play his biggest headline show to date this Wednesday, at the admittedly teeny but ever so beautiful St Pancras Old Church. A balladeer who looks to the likes of Laura Nyro, Alex Chilton and Nick Drake for his rich string arrangements and exquisite piano lines, there’s something almost spooky about the intensity and longing which he exudes throughout his debut album, Hoverance. We can’t imagine a better venue for him.
Announcement Of The Week
Hot off the back of their recent number one album, Marks To Prove It, The Maccabees have announced a 14 date winter tour. Kicking off in November, it includes two dates at Brixton Academy, on 21 and 22 January. Expect a more full bodied sound than we’ve been used to from the Londoners; their latest record, we reckoned, “reeks of a huge arena”.
