Sleater Kinney’s new album fell on us with virtually no notice. Towards the end of last year, nearly a decade after their split, the trio hid an unmarked seven inch into an LP compilation box set their label Sub Pop were releasing with minimal fanfare. A release date – 1/20/2015 – was etched into it. Then a single appeared online, then details of their eighth album… and then, most exciting of all, a series of live dates. And this week they’re finally upon us. We reckon No Cities To Love is their best record yet, so we can wait to hear it played live, in all its riot grrrl, gut busting ferocity.

The Somerset House Summer Series has become a fixture of London’s live calendar, with an eclectic array of acts entertaining us in genteel settings for 11 nights this year. Kicking off on 9 July, 2015’s headliners include Belle and Sebastian, George Ezra, Nick Mulvey, James Bay, Jessie J, Chromeo and Passenger. The event still manages to feel quite intimate, and unlike most outdoor gigs, it’s really easy to get around…and of course nothing says summer like watching the sun set over one of London’s most scenic buildings with music echoing around you – we’re looking forward to it already!
