London Gigs Diary: 24-30 June 2013

A certain little festival kicks off in Somerset this week, but if mud and tents aren’t your cuppa tea, there’s plenty going on within the safe confines of London. The National will play a hastily arranged set at the Roundhouse on Wednesday, ahead of their much anticipated UK tour in November.

Elsewhere, ahead of his Glastonbury appearance, on Monday ex-Portico Quartet man Nick Mulvey will be plugging his new EP Fever To The Form, with the second gig in his sold out three-gig London residency, this time at the Sebright Arms.

Sky Ferreira will bring her brand of power-pop the Scala on Wednesday, while Saturday sees lo-fi indiepopsters Flowers play at the Betsey Trotwood, and Haiku Salut will bring their luscious acoustic sound to St Pancras Old Church, in support of Allo Darlin’.

Just announced

Queens of the Stone Age have added another London date to their autumn tour; they’ll be playing at Wembley Arena on 22 and 23 November. We were pleasantly surprised by their last offering, …Like Clockwork, saying: “That they’ve not sounded this good in years suggests they’ve found strength in adversity.”

Elsewhere, Devendra Banhart will bring his recent album Mala to the Barbican on 18 July as part of a short UK tour, and Television have announced a rare show at the Roundhouse on 19 November.
