Sound Of 2009: Little Boots

Little Boots, the professional name of the really rather divine Victoria Hesketh, has been set on the path to stardom by topping the BBC's annual Sound of 2009 poll.

Hesketh takes on the mantle held last year by Adele with huge electropop anthems that sport solid songwriting foundations beneath the impressive production. Check out her stripped-down piano covers in pyjamas on her YouTube page.

The sometime Dead Disco girl's album has been put together under the auspices of Hot Chip's Joe Goddard. It has already yielded tasters with the impossibly addictive electro monster Stuck On Repeat and recent single Meddle

Hesketh beat Glasvegas tour supports White Lies, the rather sassy Camberwellian lady known as Florence And The Machine, Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson's colourful new project Empire Of The Sun and synth duo La Roux, who support Lily Allen on tour in spring.

Here's Hesketh playing Stuck On Repeat with just piano, before the electronic gizmos and blonde locks took over. Yes, the 12" dance version is a lot more danceable, but her sparse takes underline the quality of her material.
