Announcement Of The Week
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced four UK shows for the summer, including a massive Wembley Stadium show, on 5 June. They’ll be resurrecting the legendary River tour, which spanned 140 dates from October 1980 to September 1981, and cemented Springsteen’s reputation for epic sets, with shows regularly passing the four hour mark .
Gigs of The Week
The enchanting Josephine Foster plays a two night residency at Cafe Oto this week. A curious, endlessly fascinating singer-songwriter, with vocals that ooze old time blues but at times even nod towards classical, on the first night, Thursday 25 February, she’ll be playing solo, and on the Friday she’ll be joined by longstanding collaborator, Victor Herrero.
Bella Union’s Money will be in east London on Monday. The Mancunians’ second album, Suicide Songs, was released a few weeks ago, and is no less grandiose in its ambitions than their first. Never ones for understatement, it’s full of lofty, melodramatic guitar-rock, which is sure to translate brilliantly in the arches of the Village Underground.
Crystal Castles are back on the road after the departure of vocalist Alice Glass. New singer Edith Frane will join Ethan Kath for two shows on Tuesday 23 February and Wednesday 24 February, at Electrowerkz. Expect to hear glimpses of their upcoming fourth record, including this lovely track.
