Parquet Courts, arguably the hottest band in New York and indeed the whole of America right now, have unveiled a brand new track ahead of the long awaited official UK release of their debut album Light Up Gold.
Smart Aleck Kid is a brilliant piece of raucous NYC snotty punk rock delivered in just over 60 seconds. It’s all the time Parquet Courts need to make an indelible impression.
The band, comprised of Austin Brown and Andrew Savage, have swiftly bypassed their underground beginnings. Since Light Up Gold’s release last year on their own label Dull Tools, they have been the recipients of a tremendous amount of acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. The attention has been so significant that the album is to be re-released on an appropriately larger scale. Smart Aleck Kid serves as the b-side to a new single release of album highlight Borrowed Time, which is released on 18 March through What’s Your Rupture?
Light Up Gold will officially be in UK stores on 15 April. The band also make their much anticipated UK live debut this month with three London shows.
19 – The Garage (supporting The Men)
20 – The Shacklewell Arms
21 – Sebright Arms
