The hoards of Spanish indiepop fans who flock to Indietracks must have a very warped view of British life. Held in the picturesque Derbyshire countryside at the brilliantly kitsch Midland Railway Centre, the bar is run by the local CAMRA branch, you can shelter from the rain in a vintage carriage and if you want a bit of peace, you can hop on a ’50s steam train for a trip down the line to the nearest town.
But it’s kookiness isn’t its only strength; it’s incredibly well programmed, with a great balance of classic bands and fresh faces. And its very, very indiepop.
The first bands have just been announced, with Gruff Rhys and Allo Darlin’ the first headliners to revealed. Elsewhere, Spearmint, The Popguns, Let’s Wrestle, Onsind, The Spook School, Withered Hand, Dean Wareham and Sweet Baboo are set to play.
Indietracks takes place on 25-27 July 2014 at Midland Railway, Butterley. More here.
