alt-J
Those who might have predicted grim things after the departure of alt-J’s founding member and guitarist/bassist Gwil Sainsbury this year were wrong – damn wrong!
On Left Hand Free, the band actually seem to be stepping away from the complex, difficult, synth-laden stylings they have come to be known for and applying way more ‘oomph’ and attitude – dare we say, even swagger?
Following on from the first track Hunger Of The Pine, and in the lead up to the September release of their sophomore album This Is All Yours, alt-J are doing just fine without Sainsbury and what’s more, the toe-tapping, head-nodding piece of psych rock that is Left Hand Free gives us every reason to expect grand things yet again.
