Track Of The Day: The Antlers – Palace

antlers The Antlers’ fourth album Familiars will be out in mid-June, but in the meantime the Brooklyn indie rockers have shared a brand new single and video for Palace and it sounds absolutely magical. As per usual, the lyrics aren’t exactly sunshine and lollipops – which is fine because this band does ‘dark’ really, really well – with vocalist Peter Siblerman achingly crooning about painful memories, isolation, childhood and death.

Make sure a box of tissues is real handy, whether you’re listening to it with headphones or in a live setting, because Palace is a real tear-jerker and one powerfully melancholy piece of music that features swelling horns over a beautiful, gentle piano line pointed straight for the heart. It’s a soothing track oozing with electronic textures and tearful swoons, and if the rest of the album sounds anything like this, the rest of Familiars couldn’t come soon enough, quite frankly.
