Track Of The Day: FKA twigs – Two Weeks

Following in Prince’s footsteps when it came to choosing her artist name, FKA twigs (‘formerly known as twigs’) cemented her reputation as the internet’s ‘it’ girl last year as people began to discover her first two EPs by word-of-mouth mostly.

As the first official single off her forthcoming full-length (out on August 11), Two Weeks is smooth and minimalist R&B featuring throbbing synths and electronic beats, topped off with sexy, sultry and layered vocals that sound like the sonic equivalent of thick, syrupy honey.

Nevertheless, it’s the video that takes the cake – directed by Nabil, Two Weeks slowly zooms out to depict a strange ancient temple with FKA twigs dressed like a goddess and accompanied by similarly dressed female dancers. Pretty stunning stuff.
