Well, although it definitely would have gone down a treat with Rihanna’s vocals plastered all over it, Grimes actually does an amazing job herself on Go, thanks to her fragile and minimalist singing style, meaning that all’s worked out perfectly in the end anyway.
As her first new release in almost two long years, Go is a collaboration with Montreal producer Blood Diamonds, and a catchy electronic pop package featuring huge dubstep drops, echoing screams, EDM stuttering and cryptic lyrics about dreams, memories and generally running away. Tailor-made for the big clubs and definitely Rihanna’s big loss.
