Jazz is definitely cool again. Especially if it’s executed in the fashion that Led Bib does it – freestyle, spontaneous as, and seemingly random-sounding while making perfect sense. No wonder these guys earned themselves a Mercury nomination in 2009.
Currently celebrating their 10th anniversary with the release of fifth album The People In Your Neighbourhood, they’ve now given us New Teles – the first single bursting with pounding grooves, manic funkiness and punchy melodies. Picture a rock track getting covered by a jazz band, and you’ll get the picture.
Although New Teles does get a little bit repetitive towards the end, the bizarre but cute video that accompanies the track – featuring strangely human-like pill bottles, test tubes and chemistry equipment bouncing along from box to box – helps with keeping you visually interested at least, even if jazz isn’t really your thing. Still, it’s a nice little track if you’re looking to check out something a bit different today.
