Track Of The Day: The Sunshine Underground – Finally We Arrive

The Sunshine Underground It’s been a while since we heard from these guys – about five years, to be precise, ever since 2009’s Nobody’s Coming To Save You – and it’s good to see The Sunshine Underground back with a quite a new sound and pretty much a clean slate on their musical life.

They initially came up alongside the indie-electronic crew like The Killers and Arctic Monkeys in the mid-2000s, but these days the English band is back with a more contemporary sound and much stronger leanings towards the electronic. Produced by Ross Orton – who’s also worked with MIA and, yep, the Arctic Monkeys – the new single from The Sunshine Underground, Finally We Arrive, is a little on the dark side but will without doubt get the feet moving on the dancefloor too.

Hard beats intertwined with pretty synth sounds and hooky melodies, Finally We Arrive is likely to appeal to fans of the likes of Cut Copy, and generally, it’s good to see these guys making a return after what seemed like pretty much the end for them with Nobody’s Coming To Save You which followed the explosive debut Raise The Alarm. Welcome back.
