Track Of The Day: Róisín Murphy – In Sintesi

Following on from the first single Ancora Tu from her forthcoming six-track EP Mi Senti, the second single from sometime Moloko singer Róisín Murphy is called In Sintesi and it’s impressive for more than one reason.

First of all, the track marks Róisín Murphy’s first ever venture into writing a song purely in Italian – with some inspiration from partner and producer Sebastiano Properzi – and it actually manages to sound like the type of tune only the cool clubs would ever play. Big feat.

But then Murphy is the epitome of cool – always was, always will be. In Sintesi also happens to be the only original track on the EP, the rest being a collection of classic Italian ‘60s and ‘70s pop covers, while its overall sound can best be described as somewhat melancholy and downbeat, though still very much a club track you won’t hesitate to hit the dancefloor to.
